Our division is looking for a Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the VP of Purchasing, this position is responsible for estimating and cost maintenance for new and existing products according to CalAtlantic Homes' quality standards while adhering to budget and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure actual costs are at or below the market rates

  • Coordinate/estimate the cost and bidding of new and existing products

  • Maintain all back-up data for plans and ensure all estimating documentation, plans and sales brochures are current

  • Oversee all budget changes and variances.  Ensure departments are notified in a timely manner

  • Maintain national purchasing agreements and information and ensure that all discounts from local and national vendors are leveraged.

  • Develop and maintain bid calendar.

  • Source new vendors for all trade categories on a continuous basis.

  • Source new products to maintain competitive edge for product and specification offerings.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving techniques, materials and procedures

  • Coordinate field and product changes with Homebuilding staff

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2-4 years field production experience preferred.

  • 5 years managerial experience.

  • PC and software literate, JD Edwards experience a plus.

  • Demonstrated judgment and decision-making capabilities.

  • Good negotiation skills.

  • Strong analytical ability.

  • Proven ability to inspire, train, develop and motivate a team.

  • Proven ability to delegate and manage tasks to meet established deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling and follow-up capabilities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Highly detail-oriented.

  • Ability to work well with other departments.
